Best Paint Sprayer Product Reviews
One of the best things about the Wagner Fence and Decking Paint Sprayer is that it comes with a 1,400ml paint tank. If you’re painting a large area and would prefer not to spend your valuable time continually refilling the paint pot, this sprayer is sure to please.
What’s more, it seems someone has finally figured out that a shoulder strap for the unit would be a good idea. This not only helps you avoid back pain from carrying a heavy sprayer around but also makes the sprayer safe for use on a ladder.
There are also other great benefits you’re sure to enjoy. The sprayer can handle all solvent or water-based paints, oils, stains, varnishes, and wood preservatives. It can even take on Cuprinol Ducksback without dilution.
The extra-fine atomisation makes it easy for you to cover an entire surface easily with a single coat of paint. There are three paint panel setting (horizontal, vertical, and detailed) and the paint flow is fully adjustable.
- The strap and large paint pot make this a truly user-friendly device
- There are plenty of options to ensure your paint job comes out as planned
- The device is easy to take apart, clean, store and reassemble
- It’s not super costly but it’s not cheap either
- This item does not appear to be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty
This sprayer has a lot going for it. You can pick from three spray options (horizontal, vertical, and nummular) to ensure the finished product meets your expectations. What’s more, the sprayer can handle oil-based paints, water-based paints, primers, stains, and varnishes.
It can even handle Cuprinol Ducksback paint if you water the paint down before using it. As an added benefit, it’s hard to beat the affordable price tag and VonHaus offers a two-year manufacturer’s warranty for the product.
Like all the sprayers on our list, the VonHaus Spray Gun/Paint Sprayer has a cord and must be plugged into an electrical outlet. It can hold up to 800ml of paint at once and it’s fairly easy to take the sprayer apart to clean and store it.

Best For Quality
This sprayer is not cheap and you probably shouldn’t bother buying one if you just want to paint your fence once every few years. On the other hand, if you need a durable, reliable sprayer that can handle a wide range of paints and paint jobs, this is likely to not only meet your needs but even exceed your expectations.
The Wagner Universal Sprayer W 590 FLEXiO can be used with just about any type of paint, including emulsion, vinyl, matt, silk, wood preservative, gloss, smooth masonry, primer, enamel, satin, lacquer, undercoat, varnish, and specialist coatings. It can also take Ducksback paint without dilution.
The tank can hold up to 1300ml of paint, making it ideal for mid-size to large painting projects. It is made with Flexion technology to ensure single coat coverage and has a unique I-SPRAY nozzle for extra-fine atomisation.
The X-boost high-powered turbine ensures rapid paint application to save time. Wagner kindly included a storage case with the device to make it easy to store the sprayer when not in use. As an added benefit, the device is covered by a one-year manufacturer’s warranty
- Versatile sprayer that can be used for just about any job and with almost any type of paint
- Reasonably priced considering the many features the product offers
- Covered by manufacturer’s warranty
- Top-quality results
- Expensive if you don’t need to paint things regularly
Easiest to Carry and Use
The Bosch PFS 2000 All Paint Spray System has a compact design and comes with a shoulder strap to make it easy for you to paint just about anywhere. As an added benefit, Bosch doesn’t assume that everyone who buys their spray systems has experience using such a system before.
To that end, the company includes a handy colour coding and quick start guide with guidance for just about every type of paint project.
The paint pot can only hold up to 800ml of paint. However, Bosch went to the trouble of putting two containers in each device to make it easy for you to switch containers as you work.
The device has an easy-to-use paint volume control and compact pistol to ensure the finished job looks smooth and even. Bosch offers a free two-year guarantee with its sprayer system and this can be extended for an additional year if you register your system on the Bosch website.
- Has a shoulder strap
- Easy to use for beginners
- Handy features for fast, easy painting
- Long-term warranty
- Not ideal for indoor paint jobs as it’s specifically designed for outdoor use on fences and furniture
What to Look for in a Paint Sprayer
I’ve rated the above products based on features and price. However, the best product for someone else may not be the best product for you. Consider the following factors before you buy a paint sprayer to ensure you’re getting the best possible deal.
What Can it Be Used For?
This is probably the most important consideration. Can you use it for the paint or varnish you have in mind? Can it take Ducksback paint? Ducksback is ideal if you want to avoid painting your fence regularly, and not all sprayers can handle it.
Is it made for both interior and exterior use? Some sprayers only work with certain surfaces. For instance, Bosch’s spray system is made for use on wood and walls but it says nothing about painting metal. Other sprayers can be used on literally any type of surface.
Ease of Use
Some sprayers have handy features for ease of use. A strap is high on my list as I personally prefer avoiding backaches while I work. However, other features may be important to you, such as ease of assembly or a large paint pot. A challenging home improvement job is hard enough in itself without having to deal with an inconvenient sprayer.
If you want to use the sprayer regularly, cost shouldn’t be your highest priority. However, it’s an important consideration nonetheless. This is especially true if you have a limited budget.
Do you need a sprayer for regular paint jobs? If so, a manufacturer’s warranty isn’t just a “nice thing to have”. It’s a must. Bosch gets high marks for the longest warranty option but the two-year warranty on the VonHaus paint sprayer isn’t bad either.
And the Winning Paint Sprayer Is…
The Wagner Fence and Decking Paint Sprayer is, I feel, the best option on the market. It’s got all the features and amenities you need for just about any paint job. It can handle a wide range of paint types, including thick ones that tend to clog up some sprayer models. What’s more, it’s very reasonably priced.
The runners-up for second place are the VonHaus Spray Gun/Paint Sprayer and the Bosch PFS 2000 All Paint Spray System. The VonHaus Spray Gun/Paint Sprayer deserves high marks for providing great value at a relatively low cost.
The Bosch PFS 2000 gets high marks for offering some great amenities (extra paint pot, shoulder strap, handy user’s guide for beginners, and long-term warranty) at a reasonable price.
